Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Junior Quantity Surveyor to join the Richards Bay team. You will assist senior surveyors with estimating, procurement, and contract administration across diverse construction projects.

The role blends office duties with site visits, offering hands-on cost control, financial reporting, and cost advice to project teams. A relevant degree and up to 2 years' experience are expected, with Excel proficiency and strong numerical skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or National Diploma in Quantity Surveying or related field.
• 0–2 years of experience in quantity surveying or cost management.
• Understanding of contracts, measurement standards, and building codes.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills for effective teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing project cost estimates, BOQs, and tender documentation.
• Monitor project costs against budget, identify variations and potential overruns.
• Help manage subcontractor payments and ensure contract compliance.
• Conduct site visits to measure work and verify progress for payments.
• Prepare financial reports and forecasts for construction projects.
• Collaborate with project managers and site teams to provide cost advice.
