About the Role

Our client, a leading developer in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead significant infrastructure projects across South Africa, with a focus on wind and solar farms. This role is fully remote, allowing you to manage projects from anywhere in the country while coordinating with site teams and stakeholders. You will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of these complex projects, ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest environmental and technical standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in the energy sector, and possess exceptional leadership and remote collaboration skills. This is a crucial role contributing to South Africa's clean energy future.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and successful completion of renewable energy infrastructure projects, from site selection to commissioning.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, budget, schedule, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
• Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including government agencies, utility providers, contractors, and local communities.
• Oversee project teams, including engineers, site managers, and contractors, ensuring effective collaboration in a remote setting.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, environmental (HSE) regulations, and quality standards throughout project execution.
• Monitor project performance, track key metrics, and provide regular, detailed reports to senior management.
• Manage project finances, including budget control, cost forecasting, and financial reporting.
• Identify and mitigate project risks and issues, developing contingency plans to minimize impact.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (e.g., Electrical, Mechanical, Civil), Construction Management, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years focusing on large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in the renewable energy sector.
• Proven experience managing complex projects involving wind turbines, solar panels, or other renewable energy infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of project management methodologies (PMBOK, Agile) and proficiency with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Exceptional leadership, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to manage remote teams effectively.
• Experience working with regulatory bodies and securing project permits and approvals.
• Must be highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage projects autonomously from a remote location.
• Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
