About the Role

Our client, a trailblazer in the renewable energy sector, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Project Manager to oversee their growing portfolio of solar and wind energy projects. This role is based in the scenic city of George, Western Cape , offering a blend of on-site engagement and remote flexibility through our 'Hybrid' working model. You will be responsible for managing projects from initial feasibility studies and site assessments through to construction, commissioning, and handover. This position requires a strategic thinker with a strong understanding of renewable energy technologies, project finance, and stakeholder management. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrable track record of successfully delivering complex energy projects on time and within budget, while adhering to the highest safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the full lifecycle of renewable energy projects, including solar PV farms and wind energy installations.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource allocation strategies.
• Oversee site selection, feasibility studies, permitting, and environmental impact assessments.
• Manage relationships with EPC contractors, suppliers, local communities, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure projects comply with all relevant national and international standards, safety regulations, and environmental policies.
• Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and implement corrective actions as needed.
• Prepare comprehensive project reports, including financial forecasts, progress updates, and risk assessments.
• Coordinate with internal engineering, finance, and legal teams to ensure seamless project execution.
• Lead and mentor project teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and high performance.
• Manage project close-out activities, including commissioning, handover, and final documentation.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil) or a related technical field.
• A Master's degree or MBA is advantageous.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years specifically in the renewable energy sector (solar, wind, hydro).
• Proven experience managing projects of significant scale and complexity in the Western Cape region or similar environments.
• Solid understanding of renewable energy technologies, project finance, grid connection processes, and PPA agreements.
• Professional Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) is required.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera P6).
• Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, control costs, and manage contractual obligations.
• Experience with environmental regulations and permitting processes in South Africa.
