Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Safety Engineer to enhance safety protocols at facilities near Mossel Bay. You will identify and mitigate hazards, conduct PHAs (HAZOP/LOPA), and develop robust PSM programs to ensure regulatory compliance and a zero-incident culture.

The role requires 5+ years in process safety within chemical or oil & gas sectors, strong analytical skills, and the ability to train operations teams. Travel to multiple Mossel Bay sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years in process safety engineering in chemical or oil & gas.
• Knowledge of PHA methodologies and risk assessment.
• Familiarity with OSHA PSM and COMAH regulations.
• Strong analytical, reporting and communication skills.
• Willingness to travel to Mossel Bay sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Conduct Process Hazard Analyses (PHAs) including HAZOP/LOPA.
• Develop and implement robust Process Safety Management programs.
• Investigate incidents and near misses to identify root causes.
• Ensure compliance with safety legislation and industry standards.
• Provide process safety training to operations and engineering teams.
• Review designs and MOC processes for safety implications.
