Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Process Safety Engineer for on-site chemical operations in Mossel Bay. You will identify hazards, assess risks, and drive robust safety management systems to protect personnel and the environment.

You will lead PSM programs, perform PHAs such as HAZOP/LOPA, investigate incidents, ensure regulatory compliance, and deliver plant safety training while collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams. Relocation support may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or related safety field.
• 5+ years of experience in process safety engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM regulations (e.g., OSHA 29 CFR).
• Experience with risk assessment methodologies and safety systems design.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Ability to work on-site and collaborate with diverse teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage Process Safety Management (PSM) programs.
• Conduct PHAs, including HAZOP, LOPA, and what-if studies.
• Investigate incidents and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for plant personnel.
• Review engineering designs and modifications to ensure safety integrity.
