Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Process Safety Engineer for a role in Bloemfontein. You will focus on hazard identification, risk assessment, and implementing robust safety protocols to maintain a zero-harm culture.

You will lead PHAs, maintain PSM systems, investigate incidents, and ensure compliance with safety regulations, while delivering training and reviewing designs for safety implications.

Qualifications

• Degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• 5+ years of experience in process safety engineering in the chemical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of PSM elements and PHA methodologies.
• Experience with SIL assessments and functional safety.

Responsibilities

• Conduct PHAs (HAZOP, LOPA, FMEA).
• Develop, implement, and maintain PSM systems.
• Investigate incidents and near misses; identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with national and international process safety regulations.
• Develop and deliver process safety training to employees at all levels.
• Review process designs for safety implications before implementation.
