Placements24 is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to optimize mining and processing operations in Bloemfontein, Free State. The role focuses on boosting productivity, efficiency, and cost effectiveness in a demanding industrial setting.

You will lead initiatives applying lean principles, Six Sigma, and data-driven methods, driving improvements across the value chain while collaborating with cross-functional teams on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 5-7 years progressive experience in industrial engineering focusing on process design and optimization.
• Experience in mining, heavy industry, or complex manufacturing sectors.
• Strong understanding and application of lean principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and quantitative modeling skills.
• Proficiency in process simulation software (e.g., Arena, AnyLogic) and statistical analysis tools.
• Strong project management and leadership abilities.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working with diverse teams.
• Ability to work on-site in a challenging industrial environment.
• Must be based in or willing to relocate to Bloemfontein, Free State.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing operational processes within mining and processing to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies.
• Design, develop, and implement new or improved processes to enhance productivity, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
• Apply lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
• Conduct detailed feasibility studies and economic analyses for proposed changes and capital investments.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, process flow diagrams, and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with operational teams, engineers, and management to implement improvements and ensure adoption.
• Utilize statistical analysis, simulation software, and data visualization to support design and optimization.
• Manage projects related to process improvement, ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
• Provide technical guidance on process design to cross-functional teams.
• Stay abreast of industry best practices and emerging technologies in mining operations.
