Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Process Controller for a gold extraction facility near Benoni. You will monitor and optimize CIL/CIP and leaching circuits, manage DCS and PLC-based control systems, and drive improvements in recovery and product quality.

You will analyze process data, troubleshoot deviations, ensure strict safety and environmental compliance, maintain logs, and mentor junior operators. On-site work with potential remote flexibility for exceptional candidates.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy or Process Control.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in process control within gold mining or similar chemical processing.
• In-depth knowledge of gold extraction processes and related chemical principles.
• Experience with DCS and PLCs.

Responsibilities

• Operate and optimize process control systems for gold extraction circuits (CIL, CIP, leaching).
• Monitor key process parameters, analyze data, and adjust to maximize recovery and quality.
• Perform routine checks and quality tests on process streams and final products.
• Troubleshoot process upsets and implement corrective actions to minimize losses.
• Ensure safety and environmental compliance during operations.
• Maintain logs and assist in production reporting.
• Mentor junior operators and technicians on control procedures.
