Placements24 seeks an experienced Electrical Power Systems Engineer to join a distributed team supporting Vereeniging, Gauteng and national operations. The role centers on designing, analyzing and optimizing power networks for stability, reliability and efficiency.

You will perform detailed power flow, short‑circuit and stability studies, develop HV layouts, specify equipment, and contribute to grid expansion with renewables integration.

Qualifications

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a Power Systems focus.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in power system analysis, design and planning.
• Proficiency in industry-standard power system simulation software.
• Strong understanding of load forecasting, protection coordination, and equipment characteristics.
• Experience with grid integration of renewable energy sources is a plus.
• Excellent analytical, reporting and communication skills; able to work remotely.

Responsabilités

• Perform power flow, short circuit, stability, and harmonic analyses with PSS/E/ETAP.
• Design and develop HV substations, protection schemes, and transmission lines.
• Specify transformers, circuit breakers, relays, and conductors.
• Plan and expand power networks to meet future demand and reliability needs.
• Develop and review technical specs, engineering reports, and proposals.
• Ensure compliance with national and international standards.
• Collaborate to integrate renewables and modern grid tech.
• Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and operation.
• Stay updated on power system advancements and grid modernization trends.
