Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will lead electrical design across solar, wind and storage, developing schematics and performing power system analyses to ensure robust performance.

With 8+ years in power systems and renewables, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, ensure compliance with IEC/SANS, and mentor junior engineers while advancing innovative electrical solutions.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration with ECSA or eligible.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in electrical engineering, focused on power systems and renewables.
• Experience in grid-tied and off-grid electrical systems design and implementation.
• Knowledge of protection, grounding and earthing practices; familiarity with IEC/SANS codes.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for renewable energy projects including solar, wind and storage.
• Develop schematics, single-line diagrams, control logic and wiring diagrams.
• Perform power system analyses: load flow, short circuit and stability studies.
• Specify equipment: transformers, switchgear, inverters and cabling.
• Oversee testing and commissioning procedures and remote collaboration with teams.
• Ensure compliance with IEC/SANS electrical codes and standards.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers; contribute to R&D.
