Job summary

Our client Placements24 seeks a Senior Power Systems Engineer to join the Midrand-based team. You will design, develop and implement advanced power infrastructure projects, ensuring reliability, efficiency and safety of energy systems in renewable and conventional sectors.

Responsibilities include leading system design, feasibility studies, control strategy development, commissioning and mentoring engineers, collaborating with stakeholders to deliver projects on time.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in power systems engineering.
• Experience with grid integration or renewable energy.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT PowerFactory).
• Knowledge of power system dynamics, stability and fault analysis.
• Understanding of South Africa industry standards and regulations.
• Ability to manage complex technical projects and lead teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of complex power systems, including generation, transmission, and distribution networks.
• Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments, and technical evaluations for new energy projects.
• Develop and implement control strategies and protection schemes for power infrastructure.
• Oversee the commissioning and testing of new equipment and systems, ensuring compliance with standards.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to project teams.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project requirements and ensure successful project delivery.
