Placements24 seeks a knowledgeable Power Systems Engineer to join its operations in Upington, South Africa. You will contribute to the planning, design, analysis, and operation of electrical power systems, with focus on grid infrastructure, generation, and energy management.

Key responsibilities include load flow studies, protection schemes, and planning upgrades; ensure compliance with utility standards and grid codes; analyze disturbances and recommend corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in power systems engineering.
• Proficiency with power system analysis software such as PSS/E, ETAP, or PSCAD.
• In-depth understanding of power generation, transmission and distribution principles.
• Knowledge of power system protection, fault analysis and equipment specification.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and technical reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform load flow studies, short-circuit analysis and stability studies for power systems.
• Design and specify components for high-voltage substations, transmission lines and distribution networks.
• Develop protection schemes and coordinate relays for system safety and reliability.
• Engage in planning and implementation of power system upgrades and expansions.
• Ensure compliance with utility standards, grid codes and regulatory requirements.
• Troubleshoot and analyze power system disturbances and recommend corrective actions.
