Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineer specializing in Power Systems in Polokwane to design, implement, and maintain electrical infrastructure for energy projects. The role involves grid integration, protection schemes, and power distribution to ensure reliable energy supply across the Limpopo region.

The candidate should have a strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, grid codes, and modern power system technologies, with at least 5 years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years in power systems engineering.
• Proficiency in power system analysis software (ETAP, PSS/E, DIgSILENT).
• Knowledge of renewable energy integration, grid codes, and protection schemes.
• Experience with high and medium voltage systems.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electrical schematics and layouts for power generation and distribution systems.
• Specify electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, and protective relays.
• Perform load flow, short circuit, and stability studies for power systems.
• Ensure compliance with national and international electrical codes and standards.
• Collaborate with civil and mechanical engineers on integrated project design.
• Provide technical support for commissioning and operation of electrical installations.
