Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Senior Grid Integration Specialist for a fully remote role in South Africa. The incumbent will oversee complex power system studies, develop interconnection requirements, and ensure grid code compliance for renewables and storage integration.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) with 10+ years in the field, and ideally Pr. Eng. registration with ECSA. Remote collaboration with stakeholders across the country is expected.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems specialization.
• 10+ years of experience in power system analysis, grid integration or grid planning.
• PE registration (Pr. Eng.) with ECSA is highly desirable.
• Expertise in major power system simulation tools (PSS/E/PSCAD/ETAP/PowerFactory).

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform detailed power system studies for grid integration challenges.
• Develop interconnection requirements and standards for energy resources.
• Advise on grid code compliance, system planning, and operational best practices.
• Collaborate with grid operators, developers, and technology providers.
• Analyze impact of distributed generation and storage on stability.
• Contribute to grid modernization and demand-side management strategies.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
• Mentor junior engineers and stay updated on industry trends.
