Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Development Engineer to optimize and scale up manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical products in Sandton, blending lab, pilot, and full-scale production. The role emphasizes process analysis, experimental design, technology transfer, and compliance within Gauteng.

You will lead scale-up from lab to pilot and commercial manufacturing, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, QA, and regulatory teams.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field.
• 8+ years in process development and scale-up in pharma or fine chemicals.
• Strong knowledge of unit operations and process modeling.
• Experience with GMP and regulatory requirements.
• Excellent analytical and project management skills.
• Proficient in Aspen Plus and MATLAB; hybrid work experience.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for pharmaceuticals.
• Conduct process characterization studies, risk assessments, and validation.
• Scale up from lab to pilot and commercial manufacturing scales.
• Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and regulatory affairs.
• Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and tech transfer packages.
