Placements24 is seeking a Biopharmaceutical Process Engineer to join our advanced manufacturing team in Sandton. You will design, optimize, and scale up biopharmaceutical processes, working across cell culture and downstream operations to ensure robust, compliant production of biologics.

The role requires 5+ years in biopharma process development and manufacturing, with strong analytical capabilities and experience in GMP, scale-up, and process validation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in process development and manufacturing within the biopharmaceutical industry.
• In-depth knowledge of upstream and downstream bioprocessing unit operations.
• Experience with process scale-up, validation, and GMP manufacturing principles.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize biopharmaceutical manufacturing processes (e.g., cell culture, purification, downstream processing).
• Scale-up processes from laboratory to pilot and commercial manufacturing scales, ensuring robust and reproducible results.
• Troubleshoot process deviations and implement corrective actions to maintain process performance and product quality.
• Develop and execute process validation protocols and batch records.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure successful process transfer and implementation.
• Ensure all activities comply with regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP) and company standards.
