You will lead scale-up from lab to pilot and commercial manufacturing, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, QA, and regulatory teams.

Qualifications

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering, or related field.
8+ years in process development and scale-up in pharma or fine chemicals.
Strong knowledge of unit operations and process modeling.
Experience with GMP and regulatory requirements.
Excellent analytical and project management skills.
Proficient in Aspen Plus and MATLAB; hybrid work experience.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Process Development Engineer to optimize and scale up manufacturing processes for their pharmaceutical products in Sandton . This hybrid role involves in-depth process analysis, experimental design, and the implementation of innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, yield, and quality. You will play a key part in transferring processes from laboratory to pilot scale and ultimately to commercial manufacturing, ensuring robustness and compliance. Your expertise will be vital in driving continuous improvement initiatives within our production facilities, balancing on-site work with remote project management and analysis within Gauteng .

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and optimize manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical intermediates and finished products.
Conduct process characterization studies, risk assessments, and validation activities.
Scale up processes from laboratory bench to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing scales.
Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement effective corrective actions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including R&D, manufacturing, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs.
Prepare technical reports, process documentation, and technology transfer packages.

Requirements
