Job summary

Our client, a leading pharmaceutical manufacturer in the Soweto region, is seeking a Senior Pharmaceutical Process Engineer to design, optimize, and scale up manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, quality, and regulatory compliance.

You will lead process development, validation studies, and continuous improvement initiatives; apply GMP principles; troubleshoot issues and implement CAPAs; work with R&D, manufacturing, and QA to ensure seamless transfer and scale-up.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in process engineering within the pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry.
• Strong understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturing processes, equipment, and scale-up principles.
• Proven experience with process validation, qualification, and regulatory compliance (GMP).
• Proficiency in process simulation software and data analysis tools.
• Excellent problem-solving, project management, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimize pharmaceutical manufacturing processes to improve yield, reduce costs, and enhance product quality.
• Conduct process validation studies and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements (e.g., GMP).
• Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs).
• Lead process improvement projects, utilizing Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Collaborate with R&D, manufacturing, and quality assurance teams to ensure seamless process transfer and scale-up.
• Develop and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, batch records, and technical reports.
