Job summary

Placements24 in Mahikeng, North West, is seeking a Mine Planning Engineer to lead short-, medium-, and long-term open pit plans, integrating geological data with operations in a hybrid work setup.

You will use Deswik, Vulcan, and XPac to design pit phases, compute volumes, and optimize plans for safety, cost, and productivity, with opportunities to influence strategic mining activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering required.
• Minimum 5 years in open pit mine planning and operations.
• Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan and XPac.
• Strong knowledge of open pit mining methods, equipment and practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop short, medium and long-term mine plans and production schedules.
• Use Deswik, Vulcan and XPac to design pit phases, haul roads and layouts.
• Perform volumetric calculations for ore, waste and stockpiles.
• Integrate geological models, geotechnical constraints and equipment capabilities.
• Conduct mine optimization to maximize value and efficiency.
• Monitor plan adherence and recommend corrective actions.
