Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to open-pit operations near Rustenburg. You will develop and optimize short- and medium-term mine plans to ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally sound extraction.

The role requires translating long-term models into actionable operational plans within a competitive mining landscape. The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering and at least six years of open-pit planning experience, with proficiency

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
Minimum of 6 years of open-pit mine planning and operations experience.
Proficiency with mine planning software such as Mine2-4D, Surpac, or Deswik.
Strong understanding of open-pit mining methods, equipment capabilities and cost drivers.
Excellent spatial reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Develop short-term (weekly/monthly) and medium-term (quarterly/annual) mine production plans.
Optimize pit designs, access routes, and scheduling for open-pit operations.
Analyze geological data with geologists to ensure accurate ore delineation.
Perform feasibility studies and economic evaluations for extensions or new areas.
Monitor performance against plans and implement adjustments.
Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations in mine planning.
