Placements24 is seeking a Senior Mining Engineer with a focus on mine planning to join their client in Pretoria. The role develops short, medium, and long-term mine plans to ensure safe, efficient extraction and economic viability.

You will translate geological models into mine designs, collaborate with operations, geologists, and other stakeholders, and operate in a hybrid setup with on-site and remote workdays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of mine planning and design experience.
• Proficiency in Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac.
• Strong knowledge of geology, resource estimation, and mine economics.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Experience working across Pretoria office and remote workdays.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize detailed mine plans, including production schedules and layouts.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects and expansions.
• Collaborate with geological and operational teams to integrate data into planning.
• Ensure compliance with mining regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
• Utilize advanced mine planning software to simulate scenarios.
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and site personnel.
