Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a strategic Mine Planning Specialist for Randburg to lead long- and short-term mine planning, optimize layouts, and ensure safe, economical extraction.

You'll collaborate with geologists and engineers to translate models into viable mine plans, design pits and haul routes, and run production simulations using Deswik, Vulcan, and Surpac. This hybrid role offers growth opportunities and a chance to shape major mining initiatives in the Randburg area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in mine planning.
• Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac.
• Strong understanding of geological modeling, resource estimation, and mine economics.
• Experience with scheduling software and production forecasting.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update long-term (5-20 year) and short-term (1-3 year) mine plans.
• Optimize mine layouts, scheduling, and sequencing to maximize economic value and resource recovery.
• Collaborate with geologists to integrate resource models into mine planning processes.
• Conduct mine planning studies, including pit design, haul road design, and waste dump planning.
• Utilize advanced mine planning software to generate production plans and simulations.
• Ensure mine plans comply with all regulatory requirements and company standards for safety and environmental management.
