Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mine Manager to lead open-pit operations in the Upington region. This senior role oversees production, maintenance, health, safety, and environmental management for a large workforce.

The successful candidate will have a BSc/BEng in Mining Engineering, 10+ years in mining operations with 5+ in senior management, and strong leadership, planning, and financial skills. Relocation and housing support may be provided.

Qualifications

• BSc or BEng in Mining Engineering is required.
• Minimum 10 years in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
• Postgraduate qualification or management diploma is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage all day-to-day activities of the open-pit mine operations.
• Develop and implement strategic operational plans, budgets, and performance targets.
• Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are met and improved.
• Lead and develop the mine's management and operations teams.
• Oversee production planning, scheduling, and execution to meet output and quality targets.
• Manage relationships with regulators, contractors, and local community stakeholders.
• Drive continuous improvement to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies.
