Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Mining Operations Superintendent to lead Port Elizabeth mining activities, ensuring daily production targets are met safely, efficiently, and within budget.

The role requires strong leadership, deep understanding of mining processes, and the ability to manage complex operational challenges while driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related field is required.
• 7+ years of experience in mine operations, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
• Proven experience in open-pit mining operations and fleet management.
• Strong knowledge of mining methods, equipment, and safety regulations.
• Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
• Ability to analyze operational data and implement corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and manage all aspects of daily mine production, including drilling, blasting, loading, and hauling.
• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of mining equipment and personnel.
• Implement and monitor operational plans to achieve production targets and quality standards.
• Manage a team of shift supervisors, operators, and maintenance personnel, fostering a high-performance culture.
• Conduct regular safety inspections and actively participate in the development and enforcement of safety procedures.
• Control operational costs and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements and waste reduction.
