Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a seasoned and strategic Mine Manager to lead their operations in Upington . This senior leadership position is responsible for the overall strategic direction, operational management, and profitability of the mine. You will oversee all aspects of mining, from planning and exploration to production, safety, and environmental compliance, ensuring the efficient and sustainable extraction of mineral resources. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record of leadership, operational excellence, and a deep understanding of the mining sector .

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute the overall mine strategy, ensuring alignment with company objectives and stakeholder expectations.
• Oversee all day-to-day mining operations, including production, planning, maintenance, and administration.
• Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental performance are maintained and continuously improved.
• Manage the mine's financial performance, including budgeting, cost control, and capital expenditure planning.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing management team and workforce.
• Foster strong relationships with local communities, government authorities, and other key stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related technical discipline; an MBA or advanced management qualification is advantageous.
• Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in the mining industry , with at least 7 years in a senior management role (e.g., Mine Manager, Operations Manager).
• Proven experience in managing large-scale open-pit or underground mining operations.
• Demonstrated success in driving operational efficiency, cost management, and safety performance.
• Strong strategic thinking, leadership, and financial acumen .
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills .
