Placements24 is seeking a Senior Operations Manager to oversee mining operations near Upington, driving safety, productivity, and strategic delivery. You will lead multidisciplinary teams across extraction to processing and partner with maintenance, engineering, and HR.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mining Engineering or related field, 12+ years in mining operations, and experience with open-pit and/or underground methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or a related technical field is required.
• 12+ years of progressive mining operations management experience with leadership track record.
• Experience across open-pit and/or underground mining methods is required.
• Strong mine planning, health and safety, and environmental regulation knowledge.
• Proven ability to manage large budgets and drive cost efficiencies.
• Excellent leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day mining operations including planning, resource allocation, and production execution.
• Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
• Develop and manage operational budgets, control costs, and optimize asset utilization.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of supervisory, geological, and engineering staff.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, efficiency, and asset reliability.
• Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, and HR to ensure seamless operations.
