Senior Network Support Engineer — Path to Tier 3 Leadership

Job summary

DataTech Recruitment is seeking an experienced Network Support Engineer (Tier 2) in Cape Town to join a growing IT services business. This hands-on role requires taking ownership of escalated issues and delivering resolution across client environments.

You will work on Windows Server, AD, DNS/DHCP, VMware/Hyper‑V, firewalls and diverse infrastructure projects, with room for progression towards Tier 3 leadership. Strong ITIL practices and client communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Approximately 5 to 8 years of IT support experience, ideally in MSP or mixed environments.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of escalated technical support issues and drive them to resolution.
• Deliver reliable technical support in line with SLAs.
• Troubleshoot and support client server, network and infrastructure environments.
• Implement infrastructure changes, upgrades and migrations.
• Work on hardware, software, Wintel and virtualization projects.
• Support project planning, implementation and delivery.
• Assist with project scoping and pricing during pre‑sales.
• Prepare Statements of Work and project plans.
• Keep clients informed during incidents, changes and projects.
• Identify opportunities to improve performance, stability and security of client environments.
• Document processes to improve consistency and repeatability.
• Build strong relationships with customers and internal teams.
• Work in data centres including hardware installation and racking.
• Translate client requirements into practical technical solutions.
