Placements24 in Bloemfontein seeks a Senior Network Security Engineer to design, implement, and manage robust network security infrastructure. The role blends in-office collaboration with remote flexibility in a hybrid model.

You will lead security initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and work with IT teams to embed security across the network while staying ahead of evolving threats.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in network security engineering.
• Hands-on with firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet) and VPNs.
• Experience with IDS/IPS and SIEM solutions.
• Familiarity with cloud security in AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Security certifications such as CISSP/CCNP Security or GIAC are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, and maintain network security devices and services (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, WAFs).
• Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Monitor network traffic for security breaches and respond to incidents.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.
• Implement and manage security solutions for cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Collaborate with IT teams to integrate security across network infrastructure.
• Stay current with threats, vulnerabilities and mitigation techniques.
• Develop and deliver security awareness training to employees.
• Lead and mentor junior security engineers and analysts.
• Respond to and manage security incidents including investigation and containment.
