Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive experience in network security engineering.
• Hands-on with firewall technologies (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet) and VPNs.
• Experience with IDS/IPS and SIEM solutions.
• Familiarity with cloud security in AWS/Azure/GCP.
• Security certifications such as CISSP/CCNP Security or GIAC are desirable.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, configure, and maintain network security devices and services (firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, WAFs).
• Develop and enforce network security policies, standards, and procedures.
• Monitor network traffic for security breaches and respond to incidents.
• Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and penetration tests.

About the Role

Our client, a leading provider of secure IT solutions, is seeking a highly experienced Senior Network Security Engineer to join their established team in Bloemfontein. This role operates on a hybrid model, allowing for a balance between in-office collaboration and remote flexibility. You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing robust network security infrastructure to protect our client's assets and client data from evolving cyber threats. Your expertise will be crucial in maintaining the integrity, confidentiality, and availability of our client's networks. This position requires a deep understanding of security protocols, threat mitigation techniques, and the ability to lead security initiatives. As a senior member of the team, you will also play a role in mentoring junior engineers and contributing to the development of the overall security strategy. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in network security engineering.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP networking, routing protocols, and network security concepts.
• Hands-on experience with various firewall technologies (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Fortinet) and VPN technologies.
• Experience with intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS) and security information and event management (SIEM) solutions.
• Familiarity with cloud security best practices and tools in AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Relevant security certifications such as CISSP, CCNP Security, or GIAC are highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively in a hybrid environment.
