Qualifications

• Matriculation is essential; relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certifications (e.g., NQF Level 4 in Short-Term Insurance) advantageous.
• Minimum 4 years of experience as a Claims Handler in motor insurance.
• Strong knowledge of motor vehicle insurance policies, claims procedures, and applicable laws.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Customer service oriented with commitment to resolving issues efficiently.
• Proficient in using claims management software and MS Office.
• Ability to work under pressure and manage a high volume of claims.

Responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of motor insurance claims from notification to final settlement.
• Investigate claims, gather documents, assess liability and quantum.
• Communicate effectively with policyholders, witnesses, and third parties.
• Negotiate settlements within policy limits and guidelines.
• Appoint/manage repairers, assessors and service providers as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and timely updates in the claims system.
• Identify potential fraudulent claims and escalate for investigation.
• Provide guidance to junior claims handlers.
