Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Insurance Claims Manager to lead the Motor Division in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. The role requires strategic oversight of motor claims, policy compliance, and service excellence, with a focus on cost containment and performance improvement.

You will manage a team, drive escalations, analyse trends, and collaborate with external service providers to ensure timely settlements and high client satisfaction in a dynamic insurance market.

Qualifications

• A relevant tertiary qualification in Insurance, Law, Commerce, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in insurance claims, with at least 3 years in a management or supervisory role, specifically within motor claims.
• In-depth knowledge of motor insurance principles, policy wordings, and claims legislation in South Africa.
• Proven leadership and team management skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience in managing budgets and controlling costs.
• Proficiency in claims management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Ability to handle pressure and manage multiple priorities effectively.
• A proactive approach to risk management and fraud detection.

Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and develop the motor claims team, setting clear objectives and performance standards.
• Oversee the entire motor claims lifecycle, from initial reporting to final settlement.
• Ensure efficient and timely processing of all motor claims, adhering to SLAs.
• Develop and implement claims handling procedures and best practices.
• Monitor claims performance, analyze data, and identify trends to drive improvements in efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage complex and high-value claims, including litigation or fraud.
• Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
• Manage relationships with external service providers, such as repairers and assessors.
• Control claims expenditure and manage reserves effectively.
• Provide training and mentorship to claims staff.
