Qualifications

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced and results-driven Mine Manager to oversee operations at their facility near Paarl . This senior leadership position is responsible for the overall safety, productivity, and profitability of the mine. You will lead a diverse team of professionals, ensuring adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations while driving operational excellence and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess a strong track record in mine management, exceptional leadership qualities, and a deep understanding of mining processes, geology, and financial management, playing a pivotal role in the strategic direction and day-to-day success of the mining operation.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategic and operational plans to achieve production targets and financial objectives.
• Ensure the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance are maintained across all mine operations.
• Manage and lead all mine personnel, fostering a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the effective utilization of resources, including equipment, personnel, and capital.
• Manage relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, suppliers, and the local community.
• Monitor operational performance, analyze data, and implement corrective actions to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline; an MBA or advanced degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mining operations, with at least 5 years in a senior management role (e.g., Mine Manager, Operations Manager).
• Proven leadership experience managing large, diverse teams in a challenging operational environment.
• In-depth knowledge of mining operations , safety regulations, and best practices.
• Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management and P&L responsibility.
• Excellent strategic thinking, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
