Job summary

Placements24 in Polokwane, Limpopo seeks a Senior Mine Ventilation Engineer to design, implement, and manage underground ventilation networks ensuring air quality and thermal comfort for personnel.

You will employ Ventsim and Vuma for modeling, conduct air quality surveys and heat-stress assessments, and collaborate with planning, geology and safety teams to integrate ventilation into mine design while upholding safety standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering with a specialization in Ventilation.
• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in mine ventilation engineering, preferably underground mining.
• Experience designing and managing complex ventilation systems.
• Proficiency in mine ventilation modeling software (Ventsim, Vuma).
• Strong understanding of thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, and air quality monitoring.
• Knowledge of Mine Health and Safety Act and other health and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and manage underground mine ventilation systems and networks.
• Conduct regular air quality surveys and thermal comfort assessments.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety standards for mine ventilation.
• Develop and maintain ventilation plans with airflow and pressure drop calculations.
• Oversee installation and maintenance of ventilation equipment.
• Perform mine heat stress assessments and mitigation measures.
• Collaborate with mine planning, geology, and safety teams to integrate ventilation into design.
