Placements24 in Benoni, Gauteng invites an experienced Senior Mine Surveyor to join its technical team. The role blends on-site surveying with remote data processing, supporting mine planning, design, and production management.

You will conduct surface and underground surveys, prepare mine plans, establish control networks, and ensure regulatory compliance. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Surpac, Vulcan is required, with a strong grasp of SA mining regulations.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Surveying or Geomatics.
• Minimum of 5 years as a Mine Surveyor, with underground exposure.
• Proficient with modern surveying instruments and software.
• Knowledge of South African mining regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct surface and underground surveys using Total Stations, GPS, laser scanners, and other relevant equipment.
• Prepare accurate mine plans, cross-sections, and volumetric calculations based on survey data.
• Establish and maintain survey control networks for mining operations.
• Monitor and record mining progress, including excavation volumes, development advances, and stockpile quantities.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory survey requirements and regulations.
• Liaise with mine planning engineers, geologists, and production managers to provide necessary survey data and support.
• Process and analyze survey data using specialized software (e.g., AutoCAD, Surpac, Minex).
• Conduct reconciliations between planned and actual mine development and extraction.
• Maintain survey equipment and ensure its calibration and proper functioning.
• Train and mentor junior surveyors and survey assistants.
• Assist with site investigations and provide survey support for geotechnical and environmental monitoring.
• Ensure accurate reporting of all survey activities and findings relevant to the Benoni, Gauteng operations.
