Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a diligent Mine Surveyor for our client in Benoni, Gauteng. You will conduct underground and surface surveys, process data, and produce mine plans, sections, and models to support planning and compliance in a busy mining operation.

Based on-site, you will establish survey controls, monitor workings, calculate volumes, and collaborate with engineers, geologists, and production teams. A relevant degree, professional registration, and 5+ years in underground mining are

Qualifications

• National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.
• Professional registration with a relevant body (e.g., South African Geomatics Council).
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mine Surveyor, preferably in underground mining.
• Proficiency in surveying software (Leica, Trimble) and CAD software (AutoCAD, Deswik CAD).
• Experience with total stations, GPS, laser scanners, and drone surveying.
• Familiarity with South African mining regulations related to surveying.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Conduct underground and surface surveys using various surveying instruments and techniques.
• Process survey data and create accurate mine plans, sections, and models using CAD software.
• Establish and maintain survey control networks.
• Monitor mine workings and report on their position relative to planned excavations.
• Calculate volumes of ore, waste, and stockpiles.
• Assist in mine planning and design by providing spatial data and advice.
• Ensure compliance with all legal and statutory survey requirements.
• Maintain survey equipment and ensure its calibration.
• Assist in the development and implementation of new survey technologies and methodologies.
• Liaise with external surveyors and government bodies as required.
