Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a qualified Mine Surveyor for its underground operations in Benoni, Gauteng. You will establish survey control, monitor ground movement, and produce precise mine plans and sections, collaborating with planners, geologists, and engineers.

The role requires 5+ years in mining surveying, proficiency with total stations, GPS, laser scanners, and AutoCAD, and professional registration with a SA body. A hybrid work model is offered in Benoni.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Mine Surveyor.
• Professional registration with a SA body (e.g., PLATO) is required.
• National Diploma or Degree in Mine Surveying or Geomatics.

Responsibilities

• Conduct underground and surface surveys to establish survey control networks.
• Prepare and set out mining excavations, drives, and development areas.
• Measure and record production volumes for reporting and payment.
• Monitor ground stability and report significant movement or changes.
• Create and update mine plans, sections, and contour maps using CAD and surveying software.
• Perform volume calculations for stockpiles, excavations, and materials.
• Ensure survey work adheres to statutory requirements and industry practices.
• Maintain survey instruments and equipment, ensuring calibration and good condition.
• Liaise with mine planning, engineering, and geology teams to provide survey data.
• Assist in investigating survey-related discrepancies or incidents.
