Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Mine Planning Specialist to join our client’s team near Mahikeng in the North West province.

You will develop, optimize, and implement short-, medium-, and long-term mine plans using Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac, and Whittle, and you will sequence activities to maximize resources and reduce costs.

Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering with at least six years of planning experience is required, plus strong analytical, communication, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in mine planning and scheduling.
• Expertise in Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac and Whittle.
• Solid understanding of mining methods, equipment capabilities, and constraints.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and implement short, medium, and long-term mine plans using advanced planning software.
• Perform detailed scheduling and sequencing of mining activities to maximize resource utilization and minimize costs.
• Conduct economic analyses and sensitivity studies on various mine planning scenarios.
• Collaborate with geologists, surveyors, engineers, and operations personnel to ensure plan integration and feasibility.
• Identify and evaluate risks and opportunities related to mine planning and production.
• Prepare comprehensive reports, visualizations, and presentations of mine plans for management review.
