Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to Richards Bay, KwaZulu-Natal operations. You will develop short- and long-term mine plans from a remote setting, using Deswik, Vulcan, and related tools to optimize layouts and schedules.

Strong analytical skills and geological knowledge are essential to translate plans into actionable directives. The role emphasizes Flexibility, collaboration with distributed teams, and growth opportunities in mining planning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• 3-5 years in mine planning (open-pit/underground).
• Proficiency in Deswik, Vulcan, or similar.
• Strong geological understanding and analytical skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a distributed team.

Responsibilities

• Develop and update short, medium, and long-term mine plans using industry-standard software.
• Design mine layouts, pit slopes, haul roads, and waste dumps for safety and efficiency.
• Optimize production schedules to meet ore, waste, and grade targets.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for proposed projects.
• Collaborate with survey, geology, and operations teams to integrate data.
• Monitor plan execution and revise plans based on feedback and changes.
