Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 6 years of open-pit mine planning and operations experience.
  • Proficiency with mine planning software such as Mine2-4D, Surpac, or Deswik.
  • Strong understanding of open-pit mining methods, equipment capabilities and cost drivers.
  • Excellent spatial reasoning, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop short-term (weekly/monthly) and medium-term (quarterly/annual) mine production plans.
  • Optimize pit designs, access routes, and scheduling for open-pit operations.
  • Analyze geological data with geologists to ensure accurate ore delineation.
  • Perform feasibility studies and economic evaluations for extensions or new areas.
  • Monitor performance against plans and implement adjustments.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations in mine planning.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a skilled Mine Planning Engineer to contribute to their open-pit operations near Rustenburg . You will be responsible for developing and optimizing short-term and medium-term mine plans that ensure safe, efficient, and environmentally sound extraction of resources. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, practical experience, and strategic thinking to maximize resource utilization and operational productivity. You will play a key role in translating long-term resource models into achievable operational plans within the competitive mining landscape.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop detailed short-term (weekly/monthly) and medium-term (quarterly/annual) mine production plans.
