About the Role

Our client seeks a strategic and highly experienced Chief Mine Planning Engineer to lead the mine planning department in Pretoria . This senior position is responsible for the development and execution of long-term and short-term mine plans that optimize resource extraction, safety, and economic viability. You will manage a team of planning engineers, collaborate closely with geological and operational teams, and utilize advanced mine planning software. Key Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee the implementation of comprehensive long-term mine plans , ensuring alignment with resource models and company strategy.
• Create and manage short-term operational plans, including production schedules, equipment allocation, and drill and blast plans.
• Utilize mine planning software (e.g., Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac) to generate optimal designs for open-pit or underground operations.
• Conduct feasibility studies and economic evaluations for new projects and mine expansions.
• Ensure mine plans adhere to strict safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the mine planning engineering team.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
