Placements24 is seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer for a fully remote role based in South Africa. You will lead complex mechanical design projects, mentor engineers, and drive the strategic direction of mechanical initiatives across distributed teams.

The role requires a Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years in the field, including 3+ in leadership. Expect CAD/Simulation heavy work with SolidWorks and ANSYS, and strong remote collaboration skills.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive mechanical engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a lead role.
• Expertise in mechanical design, materials science and manufacturing processes.
• Strong CAD and simulation proficiency (SolidWorks, ANSYS).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of complex mechanical systems and products.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of mechanical engineers.
• Oversee advanced engineering analysis, including FEA, CFD, and thermal modeling.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across product, hardware, and software.
• Define technical roadmaps and contribute to strategic engineering planning.
• Ensure design standards, quality processes and project timelines in a remote setting.
