Job summary

Capitec Bank is seeking a Systems Engineer III to lead Linux operations across cloud and on‑prem environments. You will own the Linux stack, drive automation, and ensure scalable, reliable infrastructure for our high‑traffic platforms.

You'll work in a fast‑paced banking tech environment, mentor engineers, and shape standard practices for performance, security, and resilience.

Brand-new automation, incident response automation, and collaboration with cloud teams are part of this role.

Qualifications

7+ years in Systems Engineering, Linux Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering
RHCE certification minimum
Red Hat Satellite and patch management experience
AWS cloud experience in production environments
Banking/financial services infrastructure experience is a plus

Responsibilities

Own the Linux environment — cloud, on-premises, and everything in between
Build automation that removes friction and makes the whole team faster
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, deep-dive into root causes, and apply performance tuning
Support AWS-hosted workloads alongside an on-premises footprint
Raise the technical standard of the engineers around you
Lead platform health
