Job summary

Capitec Bank Ltd. is seeking a senior Systems Engineer III to take ownership of our Linux environment across cloud and on‑premises. You will lead automation initiatives, troubleshoot complex infra issues, and help set the technical standard for the engineering team.

This role requires 7+ years in systems or infrastructure engineering, deep Linux expertise with RHCE at minimum, and strong AWS production experience within a high‑pressure financial services context.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Systems Engineering, Linux Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Deep Linux expertise - RHCE minimum.
• Proven Red Hat Satellite and patch management skills.
• AWS cloud experience in production environments.
• Background in large, high-pressure environments, especially financial services infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Own the Linux environment - cloud, on-premises, and everything in between.
• Build automation that removes friction and makes the whole team faster.
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, deep-dive into root causes, and apply performance tuning.
• Support AWS-hosted workloads alongside an on-premises footprint.
• Raise the technical standard of the engineers around you.
• Lead platform health.
