Job summary

Sabenza IT & Recruitment seeks an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to design, develop, secure, automate and operate Linux platforms across office and production environments in Pretoria. The role requires autonomous problem-solving, guidance to teammates and strong Linux/Cloud skills.

You will work with AWS and Azure, implement configuration management, and drive security hardening and compliance initiatives while maintaining high availability and operational stability.

Qualifications

• Strong experience with Unix and Linux operating systems (Ubuntu, Red Hat, SUSE).
• Deep experience with Ansible Automation and Ansible Tower.
• Strong shell scripting in Bash, Python, and Perl.
• Deep experience with GitHub and GitOps repositories.
• Strong understanding of secure coding practices and Configuration as Code.
• Experience with monitoring solutions like Grafana.
• Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
• Minimum 5 years IT Operations experience.
• Minimum 5 years in configuration management and automation.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Linux client platforms across office and production environments.
• Define, implement and continuously improve Linux functionality based on business needs.
• Develop and maintain Linux base images, software packages and configuration standards.
• Ensure Linux platforms comply with security, hardening and regulatory requirements.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and remediation.
• Install, configure, administer and support Linux environments across physical, virtual and cloud infrastructure.
• Support Linux environments in AWS and other cloud platforms.
• Monitor system performance and troubleshoot infrastructure issues.
• Ensure high availability and operational stability across critical environments.
• Automate deployment, configuration and operational processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Manage system updates, patches and lifecycle activities.
• Support Incident, Problem and Change Management activities.
• Maintain technical documentation and CMDB records.
• Adhere to operational standards and security policies.
• Track Jira user stories and tasks in an Agile environment.
• Collaborate with infra, cloud, security and app teams.
• Facilitate operational meetings and contribute to service improvement.
• Participate in on-call support and weekend maintenance.
