Job summary

Capitec Bank is seeking a Systems Engineer III to lead Linux operations across cloud and on‑prem environments. You will own the Linux stack, drive automation, and ensure scalable, reliable infrastructure for our high‑traffic platforms.

You'll work in a fast‑paced banking tech environment, mentor engineers, and shape standard practices for performance, security, and resilience.

Brand-new automation, incident response automation, and collaboration with cloud teams are part of this role.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in Systems Engineering, Linux Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering
• RHCE certification minimum
• Red Hat Satellite and patch management experience
• AWS cloud experience in production environments
• Banking/financial services infrastructure experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Own the Linux environment — cloud, on-premises, and everything in between
• Build automation that removes friction and makes the whole team faster
• Troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues, deep-dive into root causes, and apply performance tuning

Systems Engineer III – Linux Tech Lead

This is a senior role for a Systems Engineer 3. You'll join a tight, technically excellent team and take full ownership of our Linux environment across cloud and on-premises. Your knowledge will help set the standard. Your decisions will shape how the platform runs.

What we're looking for

• 7+ years in Systems Engineering, Linux Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering
• Deep Linux expertise — this is your primary strength, backed by e.g. RHCE certification as a minimum
• Proven Red Hat Satellite and patch management skills
• AWS cloud experience in production environments
• A background in large, high-pressure environments — someone who understands the weight of financial services infrastructure
