Placements24 in Stellenbosch is seeking a Senior Instrumentation Technician to support critical Energy Infrastructure operations. You will install, calibrate, maintain and repair complex instrumentation and control systems for safe, reliable power generation and distribution facilities.

Requirements include a National Diploma in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technology and at least seven years of hands-on experience in industrial settings.

Qualifications

• National Diploma or equivalent in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• 7+ years of instrumentation technician experience in industrial/power environments.
• Ability to read P&IDs, electrical schematics and instrument loop diagrams.
• Hands-on with instrumentation types and calibration equipment.
• Familiarity with DCS/PLC hardware and software; strong safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, maintain and repair instrumentation and control systems.
• Troubleshoot faults in instrumentation and control loops using test equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.
• Work with DCS and PLC systems for monitoring and configuration.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation Technician to support critical Energy Infrastructure operations in Stellenbosch . This role involves the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of complex instrumentation and control systems essential for the safe and efficient operation of power generation and distribution facilities. You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy and reliability of measurement and control devices, playing a crucial part in maintaining operational integrity. Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, maintain, and repair a wide range of industrial instrumentation , including pressure, temperature, flow, and level sensors.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in instrumentation and control loops, utilizing test equipment and diagnostic software.
• Perform preventative maintenance on critical instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and minimize downtime.
• Work with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for system monitoring and configuration.
• Ensure compliance with all safety procedures, environmental regulations, and company standards during all maintenance activities.
• Provide technical guidance and support to junior technicians and assist engineers with system modifications.

Requirements

• National Diploma or equivalent qualification in Instrumentation or Electrical Engineering Technology.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience as an Instrumentation Technician in an industrial or power generation environment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting P&IDs, electrical schematics, and instrument loop diagrams.
