Placements24 is seeking a skilled Instrumentation Technician to join a power generation facility near Upington. You will install, calibrate, and maintain process instruments and control systems, ensuring safe and reliable plant operation.

The role requires reading P&IDs, loop sheets and DI diagrams, and working with PLC/DCS to troubleshoot faults. A trade qualification in Instrumentation and 4+ years’ experience in heavy industry are essential; safety compliance is a must.

Qualifications

• Trade qualification (NQF 4/5) in Instrumentation or relevant field.
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience as an Instrumentation Technician in a power/industrial setting.
• Proficiency calibrating and maintaining Rosemount and Yokogawa instruments.
• Experience with control valve maintenance and tuning.
• Understanding hazardous area classifications and safety requirements.
• Strong diagnostic skills with ability to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

This role is critical for the installation, calibration, maintenance, and repair of essential instrumentation and control systems that ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant. You will work with a variety of instruments, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level transmitters, as well as control valves and associated systems. The ideal candidate is meticulous, technically proficient, and committed to upholding high safety and performance standards in a demanding industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, and maintain a wide range of process instruments and control systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot instrumentation faults, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.
• Read and interpret instrumentation diagrams , loop sheets, and P&IDs.
• Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance on control valves, transmitters, and sensors.
• Work with PLC and DCS systems to ensure proper functioning of automated processes.
