Job summary

Placements24 is assisting a leading industrial conglomerate in Vereeniging, Gauteng to recruit an experienced Senior Buyer focusing on indirect spend. You will source a wide range of indirect goods and services, manage supplier relationships, and drive meaningful cost savings.

In this role, you will oversee RFPs/RFQs, negotiate favorable terms, and work with internal stakeholders to deliver value for money while ensuring compliance with procurement policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field (Supply Chain Management, Business Administration or related)
• 6-8 years of procurement experience with focus on indirect spend
• Proven track record in strategic sourcing, negotiation and contract management for indirect categories
• Experience with e-procurement tools and systems
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
• Ability to work cross-functionally and knowledge of SA legislation is a plus
• Demonstrated success in delivering cost savings

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute sourcing strategies for various indirect spend categories.
• Lead complex negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing.
• Manage and develop relationships with key vendors and service providers.
• Conduct market analysis to identify cost-saving opportunities and mitigate risks.
• Oversee the tendering process, including RFPs, RFQs, and contract awards.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand needs and requirements.
• Monitor supplier performance against contracts and implement corrective actions when necessary.
• Ensure compliance with procurement policies and ethical standards.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices in indirect procurement.
• Prepare detailed reports on spending, savings, and supplier performance.
