Job summary

Afrique Connection Consultancy seeks an experienced HR Manager to oversee all HR activities for a prestige jewellery house. You will lead recruitment, KPI planning, training, policy development and staff management to optimise HR delivery and compliance.

You will guide industrial relations matters, advise on grievances and disciplinaries, and ensure HR processes align with company procedures while supporting department heads in achieving organisational objectives.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5–8 years HR generalist experience, 3 of which are managerial.
• Matric and relevant HR qualifications.
• Bachelor's degree in HR Management or related field.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all HR functions including recruitment, KPI planning, training and development, policy creation, and staff management.
• Provide industrial relations guidance and support to management; ensure labour stability and compliant practices.
• Manage HR administration, payroll processes, contracts, documentation, and leave management.
• Lead recruitment and selection activities, job postings, shortlisting, interviewing, and exit interviews to reduce attrition.
• Ensure Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Employment Equity Plan (EEP) compliance.
• Coach and mentor HR Officer and support performance management initiatives.

Our client is a prestigious luxury jewellery brand, celebrated for our exceptional craftsmanship and unique designs. We believe that our people are our greatest asset, and we are seeking an experienced HR Manager to join our team and lead our human resources initiatives.

Position Overview

• The HR Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources within the company. This includes recruitment, KPI planning, training and development, policy creation, and staff management.
• To optimise the HR operational delivery and overall compliance within the company and provide functional leadership within the HR department. To partner with departmental/business heads to ensure operational effectiveness and optimal management of the human capital in the business.

Minimum Requirements

• Matric (Grade 12)
• Relevant tertiary HR qualification
• Bachelors degree in Human Resources Management and field is required
• A minimum of 5– 8 years HR generalist experience (3 of which are at managerial level) covering the holistic HR offering, preferably in a service related or Retail environment

Financial

• Plan, implement and monitor relevant advertisement (recruitment) requirements
• Manage staff overpayments

Internal - Industrial Relations

• Manage and implement industrial relations policies and strategies by supporting management to ensure labour stability and productive workforce relationships
• Provide HR support and advice pertaining to grievance and disciplinary measures and providing an HR presence during investigatory meetings and disciplinary hearings
• Guide managers on how to manage poor performance within their teams in line with company policy and best practice, provide coaching tips and guidance on how to give feedback
• Ensure all CCMA cases are appropriately managed so that the Company is correctly represented
• Assist management in chairing disciplinary hearings

Policies

• To promote the corporate values and culture by ensuring the company conforms with applicable HR related regulations and statutes as well as company procedures and policies and advise management / staff accordingly
• Ensure uniformity and consistency of application

HR Administration And Payroll

• HR operational objectives are being met in terms of service delivery, quality and compliance of employee contracts, documentation, policies, payroll processes, leave management and systems

Recruitment And Selection

• Manage recruitment and selection activities including job analysis and implementation of valid selection tools
• Ensure the recruitment and retention strategies of the business strategic workforce plans are implemented.
• Prepare advertisements for all vacant staff positions
• Shortlist and interview shortlisted candidates
• Conduct exit interviews to gather qualitative and quantitative data that is used in understanding reasons for leaving and create plans to reduce attrition

Statutory Compliance

• Ensuring implementation of the Workplace Skills Plan (WSP) and Employment Equity Plan (EEP)
• Review work of HR Officer to ensure all work is up to date and properly completed
• Exercise appropriate planning to ensure that staff deadlines for deliverables are met

Mentoring

• Manage and coach the subordinate (HR Officer) to ensure consistent application of HR policies and procedures across all areas
• Provide ongoing growth for the HR department

Performance Management

• Manage the Performance Planning and Review process and provide training to management and staff
• Support managers in developing clear, measurable objectives
• Assist with the development of progressive improvement plans for under-performers
• Performance management compliance – subordinates appraisals conducted quarterly
