Placements24 is sourcing a Senior HSE Officer to lead Health, Safety and Environmental initiatives for energy projects on a fully remote basis. The role focuses on ensuring top HSE performance across SA sites, developing and enforcing robust policies, and promoting a strong safety culture from any location.

The ideal candidate will hold a relevant degree, 8+ years in HSE management, and relevant certifications such as NEBOSH/IOSH.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in HSE management, preferably in energy/oil & gas or construction.
• Professional certifications such as NEBOSH or IOSH are highly desirable.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing HSE management systems.
• In-depth knowledge of HSE legislation and best practices.
• Strong risk assessment and incident investigation skills.
• Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities in a remote setting.
• Experience working with projects in South Africa is a significant advantage.

• Conduct regular HSE audits, inspections, and risk assessments for project sites and operations.
• Investigate HSE incidents, near misses, and occupational illnesses; determine root causes and recommend corrective actions.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs for employees and contractors.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international HSE legislation and regulations.
• Promote a proactive safety culture through engagement, communication, and leadership.
• Prepare HSE reports, statistics, and performance metrics for management review.
• Advise project management teams on HSE matters and provide guidance on best practices.
• Oversee environmental management programs, including waste management and pollution prevention.
